This page is the placeholder for the forthcoming School Library Advocacy Blog Tour organized by community members in the Beaverton School District advocating for the return of school librarians to our public schools. If you would like to participate in the blog tour, (or if you would like more information about participating) please indicate such in the comments below or via private message using the contact form to the left.
We are seeking personal stories tied to specific programs or life experiences. If you have (or had) a school librarian in your life, tell those of us who no longer have this valuable resource what we're missing out on.
If you are a student or recent grad or a parent: Share your experience or your child's experience with Newbery Club or Battle of Books. Talk about lunchtime book groups or deep literature studies. Tell us about the time that a school librarian put just the right book in your hands or your child's hands. Tell us about the author visit that inspired you or your child to write.
If you are a school librarian, tell us about the programs you offer the children in your school. Tell us about the relationships you develop with students. Tell us how you have changed student's lives.
If you are a teacher, tell us how your school librarian has collaborated with you and provided information literacy scaffolding for you and your students.
If you are a former school librarian, tell us some "Before and After" stories. What did "your students" get that today's students are missing out on in the absence of a school librarian?
If you are an author or an illustrator or a business person or a book lover, tell us how a school librarian made a significant difference in your life.
Here are a couple of examples of the types of posts we're looking for:
